SS-31 (Elamipretide) is a synthetic mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide.
Mechanism of action. In research models, SS-31 selectively associates with cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it is studied for stabilizing membrane structure, supporting electron-transport efficiency, and reducing reactive-oxygen-species formation.
Research applications. Used in mitochondrial-bioenergetics, cardiac, and cellular-aging models.
