Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide based on a fragment (4-10) of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), with no corticotropic activity.
Mechanism of action. In research models, Semax is studied for neuroprotective and nootropic-associated activity, including upregulation of BDNF and nerve growth factor (NGF) and modulation of the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems.
Research applications. Used in neuroprotection, cognition, and neuroplasticity research models.
