5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule research compound and a selective inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). It is not a peptide.
Mechanism of action. NNMT is an enzyme highly expressed in adipose tissue; by inhibiting it in research models, 5-Amino-1MQ is studied for its influence on cellular methylation balance and on the NAD+ salvage pathway, which in turn is examined in adipocyte energy-metabolism models.
Research applications. Investigated in metabolic, obesity, and cellular-bioenergetics studies, frequently as an orally bioavailable NNMT-inhibitor tool compound.
