MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA region, studied as a regulator of cellular metabolism.
Mechanism of action. In research models, MOTS-c is studied for activation of the AMPK energy-sensing pathway and for translocation to the nucleus, where it is examined for influence on metabolic-stress gene programs and insulin sensitivity.
Research applications. Used in metabolic, exercise-physiology, and mitochondrial-aging models.
